There could be a successor to the low-end Nokia 1 that runs on the Android (Go) aka Android Go platform based on Android 8.1 (Oreo), this purported device could be called the Nokia 1 Plus that is now rumored to be launched in 2019.

Now, multiple key technical specifications of the purported Nokia 1 Plus have also surfaced and as per an XDA Developers Forum report, the smartphone offers key technical specifications such as:

  • 5-inch display having resolutions of 480 X 960 pixels with pixel density of 213 ppi
  • Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system driven by Android Go
  • MediaTek MT6739 SoC
  • 1GB RAM

XDA Developers also states that the current codename for the Nokia 1 Plus is ANT, quoting Google Play Console Device Catalogue. The above though not representing a great deal of information signifies the fact that the purported Nokia 1 Plus could well be in the launch pipeline in 2019.

The current-gen Nokia 1 has a sub-Rs 5000 price tag and falls into the budget smartphones category. In this regard, gauging the above rumored technical specifications though minor at this point in time, it is imminent that the Nokia 1 Plus could well be a much-improved phone. USP of this device, once official, could be its Android Pie operating system and pricing (that could lie within Rs 10000 realistically).

In related Nokia updates, HMD Global’s mid-range Nokia 5.1 Plus should now be available across brick-and-mortar retail stores as well apart from that of e-tailers. Nokia 5.1 Plus incorporates key technical aspects such as:

  • 5.8-inch screen
  • Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system
  • MediaTek Helio P60 processor
  • 13 MP and 5 MP dual cameras; with dual-LED flash
  • 8 MP front camera
  • 3GB RAM under-the-hood
  • 32 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for internal storage expansion
  • LTE, HSPA, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity
