The Nokia 4.2 is set for launch today, finally, now we think that there is a USP here which is its potential to rekindle yet another healthy battle with the likes of Samsung in the Indian smartphone segment with respect to brand value and financial affordability apart from that of technical aspects. This is seemingly true in the case of Samsung’s latest Galaxy M and Galaxy A series – both of which offer a combination of the Samsung legacy and affordability.

On its part, the Nokia 4.2 is a mid-range smartphone – catering predominantly to these buyers stuck on shoe-string budgets yet preferring to own smartphones outside of the Chinese realm (Chinese-brand smartphones) in India. Another notable thing here is the teardrop notch design that the Nokia 4.2 comes with – a seemingly welcome diversion from the usual patterns.

The Nokia 4.2 also incorporates the Google Assistant and is driven by Android One which introduces Android 9.0 (Pie) touch to the smartphone. Along with this, the biggest factor is the brand value; the old Nokia branding has been doing HMD Global (since its takeover of Nokia phones) a world of good but this time around the odds are stacked up against the Nokia 4.2 as it has the new Samsung mid-rangers for competition.

Technically, the Nokia 4.2 offers the below key technical specifications:

  • 5.71-inch screen that has resolutions of 50 x 720 with pixel density of 270 ppi
  • Android One that introduces Android Pie
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core SoC
  • 13MP + 2MP rera dual cameras
  • 8MP front snapper
  • 2GB, 3GB RAM
  • 16GB, 32GB internal storage editions based on RAM
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, and microUSB 2.0 connectivity
  • 3000mAh battery.

Finally, Nokia states that the 4.2 is a device that has “got it all”; price-wise, the Nokia 4.2 could be priced around the Rs 12K-Rs 13K range. Do you think it could have more to offer, do share with us in the comments section below.
