Nokia 8.1 with Android 9 Pie launched in India: Price, technical specifications

The most-awaited Nokia 8.1, which happens to be a rebranded Nokia X7 from the Chinese market, has been unveiled in India. Nokia 8.1 is priced at Rs 26,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (expandable up to 400GB via microSD). One of the many highlights of Nokia 8.1 is its 1080p minimum bezels display with 81 per cent screen-to-body ratio. There are two colour variants: Blue/Silver and Iron/Steel. Nokia 8.1 will go on sale in India starting December 21.

As far as the specifications are concerned, Nokia 8.1 sports 6.18 inches Full HD+ PureView display with 81 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core chip clocked at 2.2GHz, 4GB of RAM, 64GB expandable storage and Adreno 616 GPU for graphics. Nokia 8.1 falls under Google’s Android One initiative and runs Android Pie software as well as November 2018 security patch out of the box.

As for the camera specifications, Nokia 8.1 houses 12MP + 13MP dual rear cameras with ZEISS Optics, optical image stabilisation (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). Up front is a 20MP front-facing camera with selfies and video calls. The standard set of sensors include an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope and more. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

The handset weighs in a 180g and measures 7.9mm in thickness. It packs in a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Nokia 8.1 is claimed to offer up to 24 days standby time and 22 hours talktime.
