In related updates, OnePlus and Qualcomm are all set to start trials of 5G in India. Here, it is worth remembering that OnePlus showcased a 5G prototype at the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019). With the company now set to test 5G in India, there could be a OnePlus 5G-enabled smartphone in the country earlier than expected.

“We have been loyal to Qualcomm’s 800-series Snapdragon chipsets since the release of our very first flagship device. This strong partnership with Qualcomm makes us believe that we could bring the best 5G device to the world,” stated Pete Lau who is Founder and CEO at OnePlus.

The company is said to have begun 5G research as early as 2016. In 2017, OnePlus started working towards developing 5G smartphones in partnership with Qualcomm. In August 2018, the OnePlus 5G Project Team was successful in establishing a 5G connection to San Diego where the Qualcomm Technologies Laboratory is located. Hence,e there could be a 5G-compatible OnepLus handset soon.
