The OnePlus 7-series launch isn’t very far off, but there’s still some more days to go – OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 7-series of phones (yes, multiple phones) on May 14. But looks like folks at DisplayMate have already spent some time with the OnePlus 7 Pro – which is set to be OnePlus’ first true-blue flagship that will take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10+. And they’re out with their verdict as well, although you’ll still have to wait for May 14 to read their full in-depth analysis.

But here’s what we’re looking at - “DisplayMate's in-depth Lab Tests of the OnePlus 7 Pro OLED Display have just been completed, earning our Highest A+ Display Rating,” notes the analysis firm. In layman’s terms, the OnePlus 7 Pro display is (going to be) even better than the Samsung Galaxy S10+' - the OnePlus 7 Pro will have the best smartphone display ever.

Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ has the best smartphone display ever. The Galaxy S10+ not only has the best smartphone display ever, it is also the most accurate. Samsung’s new Dynamic AMOLED display boasts of a very high colour accuracy – both in terms of contrast as well as in terms of intensity. The new panel is also brighter than the one on its predecessor, the Galaxy S9 - chalking a whopping 1,200 nits of peak brightness. Viewing angles are also best in-class with minimal colour and white shifting.

The OnePlus 7 Pro display will be even better, according to OnePlus and DisplayMate.

OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 7 Pro will be fast and smooth, seemingly hinting at the phone’s much-rumoured curved Quad-HD+ resolution Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate – both of which will be a first for OnePlus. All OnePlus flagship phones have had full-HD+ screens with 60Hz refresh rate so far.

Faster refresh rate screens have been limited to high-end gaming phones so far – Apple's iPad Pro also uses a variable refresh rate display under the name of Pro Motion. The OnePlus 7 Pro could be the first mainstream smartphone to have a 90Hz display, if at all the rumours come out to be true.

Since the OnePlus 7 Pro display is (going to be) even better than the Samsung Galaxy S10+', it will be interesting to see how much that rumoured 90Hz refresh rate has a role to play in this.
