Oppo’s upcoming smartphone - Oppo R17 Pro - is claimed hold 40 per cent charge in only 10 minutes. All credit goes to the company’s proprietary Super VOOC, which is theoretically and practically the fastest fast charging technology to the date. Folks over at Oppo India confirmed that their R17 Pro smartphone will support their in-house Super VOOC fast charging technology, and there are plenty of reasons why you need to be excited about it.

First things first, there’s VOOC and then there’s Super VOOC. And since both the technologies have different specifications, results they offer are different as well. So far, we have seen quite a few Oppo phones in India supporting VOOC. For example, phones such as Oppo Find X, Oppo F9 and F9 Pro support VOOC. Although Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition does support Super VOOC, it never commercially made it to India.

Oppo R17 Pro will also mark the official debut of the company’s Super VOOC technology in the Indian market. But before we discuss the importance of Super VOOC for consumers, let’s understand what goes behind Super VOOC and how it differs from the traditional VOOC:

Portable smartphone batteries have evolved and come a long way since their early days. More consumers now prefer smartphones that charge quickly over the ones that don’t, and for obvious reasons: Their battery shouldn’t quickly run out of juice and even if they do, they can quickly charge up to a certain limit without having to spend over 20 minutes.

Oppo’s VOOC-enabled chargers are claimed to be two times faster than standard 5V/1A chargers. If standard chargers take over three hours to charge phones up to 100 per cent, Oppo’s VOOC-enabled chargers can theoretically achieve the same results in an hour and a half. Similarly, Super VOOC can theoretically do the same thing in less than an hour.

As for key attractions, Oppo R17 Pro features a triple camera unit on the rear and in-display fingerprint reader, much like OnePlus 6T. It flaunts gradient design in addition to a 6.4-inch 1080p AMOLED screen.
