Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy S series of smartphones that are hugely rumoured to have the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ nomenclature and rumoured to be launched during the Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for February 20 in San Francisco, have now witnessed a variant featuring on Geekbench notching up apparently impressive scores.

A new Geekbench listing indicates a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, variant bearing model number SM-G975F - which rumour mills are indicating to be the Galaxy S10 Plus, passing Geekbench tests and notching up 4472 points as single-core score and 10387 points as multi-core score.

The notable fact about this listing is the fact that the above variant of the purported Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus smartphone is driven by Google’s newest Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system. Technical-specification wise, the phone has 5GB RAM, octa-core SoC clocked at 1.95GHz.

These details, though minor, offer a sneak-peak into what could be in store with respect to technical specifications within at least one variant of the next-gen Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones. At this juncture, it is worth understanding that multiple variants of the Galaxy S10 have already come to the fore unofficially. Now, the above Geekbench listing only adds substance to these rumours whilst indicating that there could be a  5GB (or 6GB) RAM variant in the launch pipeline.

As far as the latest Geekbench benchmark listing is concerned, the scores notched up in both the single-core as well as multi-core tests are impressive at least on paper and indicate the existence of a truly high-end handset thus adding to expectations from Samsung during its February 20 Unpacked event.

For the uninitiated, Samsung has reportedly started mass production of its Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus smartphones; these phones are said to be LTE-compatible units; there is also said to be a 5G edition in the pipeline with this, also speculated to get into the production phase at an unknown point in time in 2019. Hence, at this point in time, the cynosure of all eyes is the futuristic Galaxy Unpacked event on February 20.
