Xiaomi maybe the first smartphone brand in the world to launch a smartphone with a 64MP camera based on Samsung’s GW1 image sensor, but Realme has beaten it to the punch by bringing the tech to India first. Realme launched the Realme XT phone in India on Friday, boasting of an industry first - in India - 64MP quad camera setup. At the same time, Realme also confirmed that it will launch an even more powerful variant of the Realme XT, called the Realme XT 730G, in India in December.

Realme has launched the Realme XT in India in as many as three variants - 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB. There will be two color options available - Pearl Blue and Pearl White. Price starts at Rs 15,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, going all the way to Rs 18,999 for the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Realme XT - India’s first phone with 64MP camera

The main highlight of the Realme XT, as mentioned earlier, is its four-camera setup on the rear. It has a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro lens. That main camera uses Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor which works on the same principle as its 48MP GM1 and 32MP GD1 sensors - effectively producing sharper, more detailed 16MP photos in tricky and low light, and using software interpolation to produce high resolution 64MP photos as and when required.

Hallmark Realme features such as Nightscape (which is Realme’s take on the night mode we’ve come to see on many phones lately) and Chroma Boost (used for achieving greater dynamic range and more balanced exposure under different lighting scenarios) are available on the Realme XT.

On the front, the Realme XT has a 16MP camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor.

The dual-SIM Realme XT runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 software.

The Realme XT further packs a 4,000mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 flash charge support which is claimed to top the battery from 0-55 per cent in just 30 minutes.
