Xiaomi will launch the entry-level Redmi 7A phone in India soon, possibly alongside the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Xiaomi is gearing to launch the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India by mid-July and chances are the Redmi 7A may be launched on the same day – Xiaomi launching multiple products in one go isn’t very surprising after all.

The Redmi A series (Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A and Redmi 6A) have sold over 23.6 million units and the Redmi 7A is coming to continue the legacy, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has posted on Twitter. The post does not mention any time-line but now that Xiaomi has started hyping the Redmi 7A, the launch shouldn’t be too far off.

A follow-up to last year’s Redmi 6A, the Redmi 7A brings a big battery and splash-resistance to the entry-level segment. The Redmi 6A was the best-selling phone in India in Q1 2019, according to data released by Counterpoint Research – something similar will be expected from the Redmi 7A as well.

The Redmi 7A, much like the Redmi 6A and the Redmi 5A before it, is an entry-level smartphone designed for fist-time users who’re looking to make a switch from a feature phone – without breaking a bank. The key highlight, this year, seems to be the phone’s P2i hydrophobic coating.

Elsewhere, the body of the Redmi 7A is made entirely out of plastic and there’s no fingerprint scanner here. The Redmi 7A comes with a 5.45-inch 720p+ LCD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor under the hood. The phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 software and packs a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. There’s a sizeable 4,000mAh battery inside and micro-USB port for charging and data syncing. On to the optics, the Redmi 7A has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.
