It’s official, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi will launch the Redmi K20 with ‘killer’ specs in China on May 28. Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has already confirmed that the Redmi K20 will be coming soon to India – possibly soon after its formal unveiling in China. Rumour has it that there may be two variants of the Redmi K20 – a standard and Pro version. Alongside the launch date confirmation, Redmi has also confirmed a few key specs of the Redmi K20 – including a 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor.  

Redmi chief Lu Weibing has been dropping Easter eggs with regards to its Redmi flagship phone on Weibo revealing key aspects of the phone in question. 

The Redmi K20 will be powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 processor and it will be optimized for gaming. The phone will boast of two-day battery life. The K20 will be also eligible for Android Q beta at launch which means early adopters will be able to try out Google’s latest and greatest software on it alongside Pixel users. 

Rumored specs of the Redmi flagship phone include a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 2340x1080p resolution and in-display fingerprint scanner, triple rear cameras consisting of one 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP sensor (possibly wide-angle) and an 8MP sensor (possibly telephoto), and a 32MP front camera. The Redmi K20 is said to come in as many as four configurations - 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB, and three colours – red, blue and carbon fibre. 

The Redmi K20 Pro is rumoured to kick things up a notch by with features like a pop-up selfie camera and 27W fast charging support out-of-the-box.  

Now that we have a launch date, it won’t be long before we get to see what Redmi has in store with regards to its first true-blue flagship phone. Being a Redmi phone means the Redmi K20 is expected to offer top-tier specs at relatively more affordable prices in comparison to conventional flagships.
