Huawei Mate 20 Pro is confirmed to arrive in the Indian market pretty soon. Although the company did not reveal the timeline, reports suggest that Huawei will unveil its upcoming smartphone in India next week on November 27. Huawei India unit is also running a promotional campaign on its social media channels, allowing people to attend the launch event and win goodies.
Design-wise, the handset is 8.6mm in thickness and it weighs 189g. Globally, it’s available in several colours such as Black, Midnight Blue, Emerald Green and Twilight. From pictures, Huawei Mate 20 Pro looks impressive. It flaunts pretty thin bezels and chin at the bottom. Above the display, one can find a notch cut out that makes an ample room for a selfie camera and earpiece.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports 6.39 inches OLED display featuring 3,120 x 1,440 pixels resolution that results in 538 PPI pixel density. Hence, we reckon the video-watching experience should be far better than on high-end premium smartphones with Full HD resolution - but that’s again due to lower PPI count. Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s display seems to have all that’s required to stand out in terms of competition.
Internally, one can find Huawei’s own Hisilicon Kirin 980 processor powering the handset. It should be worth pointing out that this one happens to be world’s first commercial mobile chip fabricated using 7nm process. Huawei Mate 20 Pro series smartphones happen to be the first ones to incorporate the Kirin 980 processor. It’s available in two configurations: 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB storage, which is further expandable up to an additional 256GB using the microSD card slot.
It looks like all the leading smartphone makers are catching up with a new trend: the in-display fingerprint reader technology. Huawei Mate 20 Pro, much like OnePlus 6T and Vivo V11 Pro, sports the in-display fingerprint reader.
For shutterbugs, the Mate 20 Pro is expected to nothing less than a treat! It flaunts a square, triple-camera unit on the back, incorporating 40MP wide-angle lens + 20MP ultra wide-angle lens + 8MP telephoto sensor. Up front is 24MP secondary shooter for selfies and video calls. The Mate Pro runs EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box.
But will there be takers for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro? Well, given the specifications, the Mate 20 Pro is expected with an expensive price tag and with quite a lot of competition in that space it may seem appealing only to users specifically looking out for design and camera features.
