Samsung launched its next-generation Galaxy S10 flagship phones at Unpacked last night. Not only does the Galaxy S10 have more variants, it also packs more cameras than any Galaxy S phone we’ve seen before. Not to mention, the Galaxy S10 lineup has a fresh design scheme, new hardware and plenty of AI smarts under the hood – it is a biggest upgrade to the Galaxy S in two years.

While the Galaxy S9 came in vanilla and plus models, the Galaxy S10 has three new models to boot – the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10E. Samsung has also announced a 5G spin-off model, calling it simply the Galaxy S10 5G, but it will be available in only select markets. Here’s a closer look at everything that the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10E and Galaxy S10 5G bring to the table:

  • The Galaxy S10 will look and feel familiar if you’re familiar with Samsung’s Galaxy S phones – the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10E all have a familiar glass and metal sandwich design scheme. But Samsung is making some changes this year – in design and build materials. The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10 5G keep Samsung’s signature curves but the Galaxy S10E has a flatter bezel – it is also the smallest of the lot. The most premium of the lot, the Galaxy S10+, is meanwhile getting a ceramic treatment. Broadly speaking, the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10E will be available in Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow and Flamingo Pink colours with the Galaxy S10+ also getting two ceramic models - Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.
  • The Galaxy S10E has a 5.8-inch screen with a 1080p+ resolution. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are bigger with 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch screens with QHD+ resolution. The Galaxy S10 5G is the biggest of the lot however, with a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen. Samsung is calling its new displays dynamic AMOLED, and these are also HDR10+ certified. A punch-hole notch (Infinity-O) is standard across the board.

  • The Galaxy S10 lineup shares the same core innards which is a combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (in the US) and Exynos 9820 (in India). The Galaxy S10E will be available in 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage configurations. The Galaxy S10 in 8GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/512GB storage configurations while the Galaxy S10+ will be available in 8GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/512GB storage and 12GB RAM/1TB storage configurations. The Galaxy S10 5G will come with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10E support micro-SD expansion (up to 512GB). The Galaxy S10 5G does not support expandable memory.

  • The Galaxy S10+ has five cameras in all - triple rear cameras consisting of one 12MP wide (77-degree field of view) sensor with variable f/1.5-f/2.4 aperture and dual pixel OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide (123-degree field of view) sensor with f/2.2 aperture and fixed focus, and a 12MP telephoto sensor with OIS, dual front cameras consisting of one 10MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture for depth sensing. The Galaxy S10 has the same triple rear cameras as the Galaxy S10, but it has only a single 10MP front camera. The Galaxy S10E has dual rear cameras (same as the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ but sans the telephoto camera). Also, it has a single 10MP front camera. The Galaxy S10 5G has six cameras in all – four on the back and two on the front. It adds 3D Time-Of-Flight cameras on the front and back.

  • The Galaxy S10E has a 3,100mAh battery. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ have 3,400mAh and 4,100mAh batteries. The Galaxy S10 5G has the biggest battery of the lot – a 4,500mAh. Fast charging, wireless charging and reverse charging are standard across the board.

  • While the Galaxy S10 starts at $899, the Galaxy S10+ starts at $999. The Galaxy S10E meanwhile starts at $750. The Galaxy S10 trio will be available for buying from March 8. Samsung is known to bring its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones to India just days after their global launch, at least that’s how it has been lately. The Galaxy S9, to recall, was made available for buying in India on the same day it was made available globally in March last year. We expect the Galaxy S10 to arrive in India in the first week of March.
