Vivo U3 launched with triple cameras, 5,000mAh battery 

Vivo has launched a new U series phone called the Vivo U3 in China which seems to be a good upgrade over the Vivo U10 which was recently launched in India.

Vivo has launched a new U series phone called the Vivo U3 in China which seems to be a good upgrade over the Vivo U10 which was recently launched in India. The Vivo U3 packs slightly better hardware and is also available in a high-end 6GB RAM configuration. The Vivo U3 seems to be a China-only affair for now and it would be interesting to see if Vivo brings this to India anytime soon. 

Vivo U3 specs and features

Speaking of core specs, the Vivo U3 has a 6.53-inch FHD+ or 1080p+ display with a waterdrop-style notch. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 64GB storage – there's also a provision for storage expansion. On to the cameras, the U3 comes with three rear cameras – a 16MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth camera for portrait photography. On the front, the U3 comes with a 16MP camera.  

The main USP of the phone is its sizeable 5,000mAh battery. The phone also supports 18W fast charging through microUSB. 

Speaking of design, the U3 has a plastic exterior – a plastic glossy one like the one seen in Vivo’s other budget phones like the S1 and Z1 Pro. The phone will be available in black, blue and green colours. 

Vivo has launched the Vivo U3 in China at a starting price of CNY 999 (roughly Rs 10,000) for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage going all the way to CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs 12,000) for the top-end variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.  

For some perspective, the Vivo U10 starts at Rs 8,599 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage going all the way to Rs 10,990 for the top-end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The U10 is also available in 3GB/64GB configuration for Rs 9,990. 

For the price, you get a 6.35-inch HD+ or 720p+ display with a waterdrop-style notch and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. The U10 comes with three rear cameras – a 13MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth camera for portrait photography. On the front, the U10 comes with an 8MP camera. The phone is further backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
