Vivo will launch the Vivo V15 Pro in India on February 20. There have been multiple reports that the Vivo V15 Pro will bring a pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner tech at a relatively mainstream price. But while the feature set may be real, pricing of the Vivo V15 Pro may not be as aggressive as what rumour mills would have you believe. A source familiar with Vivo’s plans has confirmed to Republic World that the company will launch the Vivo V15 Pro in India on February 20 at a price in between Rs 30,000-Rs 35,000. A toned-down variant called the Vivo V15 will be launched at a later date. The Vivo V15, that may or may not share all the USP features of the Vivo V15 Pro, will obviously cost less.

For some perspective, Vivo had launched the Vivo V11 Pro in India in September last year, at a price of Rs 25,990. The Vivo V11 was launched at Rs 22,990.

The Vivo V15 Pro with a price of Rs 30,000+ will be more expensive than the Vivo V11 Pro that it will replace. It is, in fact, going to be closer to the Vivo X21, in this regard. The X21 was Vivo’s first phone in India to ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner. But, the Vivo V15 Pro will also pack a pop-up selfie camera like the even more expensive Nex, seemingly justifying its higher asking price when compared to the Vivo V11 Pro from last year.

All things taken into consideration, the Vivo V15 Pro will be a one-of-its-kind phone to launch in India in the Rs 30,000-Rs 35,000 price bracket. And even though it isn’t going to be as affordable as say the Vivo V11 Pro from last year, it should hold its ground basis of its unique feature set.

The pop-up selfie module in the Vivo V15 Pro is expected to work on the same concept as it is in the Nex. Which also means that it will be built out of mechanical parts. The pop-up selfie camera in the Nex can be used hassle-free about 50,000 times, according to Vivo, and something similar is expected from its upcoming phone as well. The presence of a pop-up selfie camera also confirms another key aspect of Vivo’s upcoming phone, that it will ship without a notch.

This pop-up selfie camera will have a resolution of 32MP. Additionally, the Vivo V15 Pro will also come with a triple rear camera setup (with dual LED flash) and one of these cameras will supposedly use a 48MP sensor.

In terms of design, the Vivo V15 Pro is expected to carry forward the Vivo V11 Pro’s gradient finish design (up-top a plastic body). The Vivo V15 Pro will reportedly come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor – a step-up from the Vivo V11 Pro’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 – with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Vivo has been doing some crazy innovative things for over a year now. Last year’s Apex was nothing short of revolutionary in many ways. The fact that Vivo was able to commercialize the concept through the Nex soon enough was crazier still. But it was a flagship phone that cost almost Rs 45,000. With the Vivo V15 Pro, Vivo is looking to bring its marquee features into an even more affordable price segment. The Nex has been well received in India (it has been discontinued now) and Vivo will be looking to recreate its popularity with the Vivo V15 Pro as well.
