Xiaomi is gearing to launch the Redmi Y3 in India on April 24 – but, there could be another smartphone tagging along. Xiaomi has been on a teaser spree lately, but all its teasers have focused on the selfie-centric Redmi Y3. In a series of tweets, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Y3 will come with a gradient design, a 32MP selfie camera embedded into a waterdrop notch, and a 4,000mAh battery.

In one such tweet, Xiaomi says that it has shipped over 70 lakh Redmi Y-series (Redmi Y1+Redmi Y2) phones since launch – and to celebrate the feat, the company has “a few surprises lined up,” for April 24. “But what's with 7?” Xiaomi quips possibly hinting that the Redmi 7 is also on its way to India. No further information has been shared, and even though all of this is pure speculation for now, Xiaomi has seemingly made a habit of launching multiple products on same day. It has been doing that for a while now – so it won’t come as a surprise if it launches the Redmi 7 alongside the Redmi Y3 on April 24. Especially since it has started teasing the number 7.

The Redmi 7 is already a go in China which means we already know everything about it.

The Redmi 7 has the same look and feel as the Redmi Note 7 (India variant that has solid colours rather than a gradient design like the Redmi Note 7 Pro) and it is also available in a slew of attractive colours including red, blue and black. It is made of plastic though, but Xiaomi is incorporating a P2i hydrophobic coating on it (like the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 7) which makes the phone resistant to light splashes of water/rain.

Speaking of specs, the Redmi 7 has a 6.26-inch 720p+ display with a waterdrop-style notch. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage which is also expandable. The dual SIM phone runs Android Pie-based MIUI 10 and packs a 4,000mAh battery with 5V/2A charging through micro-USB. Onto optics, the Redmi 7 comes with a dual rear camera system consisting of one 12MP sensor and another 2MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography. On the front, the Redmi 7 comes with an 8MP camera.
