Xiaomi seems to be working on an entry-level Android Go smartphone, according to three different certification listings. The phone in question, said to be called the Redmi Go, has been spotted separately on Singapore's IMDA, the US' FCC and Russia's EEC, hinting at an imminent launch. All the three listings refer to a Xiaomi device with a model number M1903C3GG with the one filed in Singapore explicitly mentioning the name, Redmi Go leading us to believe that we are dealing with a Xiaomi Android Go smartphone here.

Although the listings don’t give out much, they seem to suggest that Xiaomi’s upcoming Android Go phone would have a screen size smaller than 6-inch and have an aspect ratio of 18.9. If true, this Xiaomi phone could have slim bezels but no notch, something on the lines of the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. Note that both the Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 are entry-level Xiaomi phones with the former being the more affordable option. The Redmi Go, should Xiaomi be working on such a phone, could be priced similar to the Redmi 6A or even somewhat lower than that considering that it would be an Android Go phone with bare-minimum hardware specs.

Android Go, to refresh, is a toned-down version of Android designed from grounds up for entry-level phones with 1GB RAM and lower. The Redmi Go to that effect may ship with 1GB RAM and Android 9 Pie Go Edition software making it one of the if not the most affordable Xiaomi phone and going by the listings, chances are the phone maybe headed to Europe, the US and Singapore in the days to come. It is yet to be seen whether the said phone ever makes it to India but because Xiaomi has been in the habit of bringing almost all its Redmi phones to the country, the same may be true about this one as well.

Xiaomi is yet to formally announce its plans regarding such a phone, so we suggest you take this piece of information with a pinch of salt. What it has confirmed though is that it is gearing to launch a new phone – expected to be called the Xiaomi Play – in China on December 24. The Play, according to a few teasers shared by the company, will be Xiaomi’s first phone to pack a water-drop style notch on the front.
