The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the Xiaomi Poco F1 is now available with a Kevlar finish in India. The variant, called the Armoured edition, can be purchased from Xiaomi’s Mi.com/in online store for Rs 23,999. Previously, Kevlar finish was limited to the top-tier Poco F1 variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
As expected, the Poco F1 6GB RAM, 128GB Armoured edition will cost Rs 1,000 more than the standard all-plastic Graphite Black, Rosso Red and Steel Blue variants. The Poco F1 8GB RAM, 256GB Armoured edition also similarly costs Rs 1,000 more and sells for Rs 28,999 in comparison to the standard all-plastic Graphite Black, Rosso Red and Steel Blue variants.
The Poco F1 6GB RAM, 128GB Armoured edition is now the most affordable phone in the Indian market to boast of a Kevlar finish. This should not only help Xiaomi/Poco generate some fresh hype -- the company is not looking to launch a Poco F2 anytime soon – it should also help silence some critics who have been critical about the Poco F1’s build quality.
The Poco F1 brings the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor to the masses, and it is also the cheapest phones in the market to ship with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. But at the same time, the Poco F1 has also been criticized for its all-plastic body something that cuts some premium points from its all-round score card. Rumour has it that Poco may do something similar with the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the Poco F1 as well, but for now, it seems only the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is getting the Kevlar treatment. It would be interesting to see if Poco would be willing to do that in the days to come.
The Poco F1, to refresh, starts at Rs 19,999 for the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant while the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and Kevlar finish sells for Rs 28,999. The Poco F1 is also available in 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration for Rs 22,999 and standard all-plastic 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration for Rs 27,999.
