Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is getting MIUI 11 early

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro users in India are now receiving the MIUI 11 update. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is in fact getting the MIUI 11 update early – it was supposed to start getting the update in the fourth wave, starting from December 18. 

Redmi Note 8 Pro users are taking to Xiaomi’s online MIUI forum to confirm getting the MIUI 11 update, alongside sharing screenshots of the said update. The MIUI 11 update bumps up the Android security version to October 2019 but the major version stays put at Android 9 Pie – meaning, the phone isn’t being updated to Android 10 just yet. 

Xiaomi claims the MIUI 11 update “significantly upgrades the design element and brings a new set of refined features with a visually enhanced interface with Dark Mode.” It brings “new customizations to the popular Always-on display” in compatible phones. The MIUI 11 update will also bring new dynamic ambient nature sounds fr notifications plus a new Mint Keyboard with support for over 25 Indian languages. 

Here are a few other notable features coming to Xiaomi phones with MIUI 11: 

-- Wireless file sharing, wireless printing, working with documents, and managing tasks 

-- New step counter, period tracker, and calculator 

Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be updating as many as 28 of its devices to MIUI 11. The update has started hitting Xiaomi devices in a phased manner beginning October end (from October 22 and will be completed by the end of this year. Even though it has set aside to-be-updated phones into phases, the actual rollout seems to be following its own course. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is a classic example.  

Phones like the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 7A and Redmi Note 8 were supposed to be updated to MIUI 11 in the ongoing phase 3 (November 13-November 29) but a few of these devices have already received it ahead of schedule – which isn’t a bad thing at all.
