Why do hard work when one can do smart work? This has always been the go-to approach followed by Indian everywhere. We invented the world-famous 'jugaad' approach which is now widely applied by entrepreneurs all around the globe.
Jugaad was displayed at its best when a twitter user named Bade Chote (similar to the 9XM's hit, Hindi speaking 'monsters') posted a video of a farmer using an innovative machine to ease his job of climbing coconut trees.
While the post speaks how when one wants to be a bike racer, but settles to be a farmer, the video shows the farmer sitting on a motor-driven machine with two footrests and a bike handles to hold on. The machine is attached around the trunk of a slender tree. As he starts the machine, the motor revs and the farmer zooms up the tree. The speed is controlled by brakes on the handle of the machine. The machine has two adjustable clasps on its torso which adjusts according to the trunk width. The farmer is seen shooting up the tree and reversing downwards with a gear change at the foot peddle quite easily.
Coconut tree climbers throughout the nation have always faced extreme risk of falling from heights, with minimal safety measures often applying too much pressure on their hand and feet. This machine may be a boon to ease their efforts.
Netizens have hailed the new jugaad for many coconut tree climbers:
