According to reports, an ex-Facebook employee has alleged that she was harassed at the workplace after she criticised Facebook for the lack of diversity. In an internal post viewed by CNBC, Sophie Alpert, who left Facebook last week, described harassment at the workplace after she criticised about the lack of diversity at the social networking giant. Alpert, an ex-engineering manager at Facebook, headed a key open-source project called React.

Alpert went to write a post on Workplace by Facebook, an internal enterprise connectivity platform. Although Alpert said Facebook is good for many people, she said it wasn't the right place for herself at the time of quitting the company. This is what Alpert had to say in her post:

"I want to spend my time at a place willing to push further on diversity and inclusion. One where it's not OK to write on Workplace that white privilege doesn't exist. One where if I call out that our board has too many white men, I don't get harassed by other employees on Blind with transphobic messages saying I should be fired."

In a statement to CNBC, a Facebook spokesperson reiterated that Facebook doesn't tolerate harassment. Facebook also said that it has clear policies on how people need to communicate with and treat each other at the company.

According to Business Insider, the social networking giant has recently come up with a new "set of ground rules" when it comes to communication at work. The rule change will allow Facebook employees to pursue sexual harassment claims in court if they so wish.

Earlier, there was a report that Facebook had considered selling users' data to other companies via Graph API but later decided to act against it. Facebook's Graph API was an underlying issue in Cambridge Analytica data scandal last year.
