Boldly go...

These words posted by NASA in its recent tweet has resulted in an epic intergalactic franchise battle between William Shatner a.k.a Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the Star Trek Enterprise and Mark Hamill a.k.a Luke Skywalker of Star Wars.

On Thursday, NASA tweeted a photo of curious chevron shape left on Hellas Planitia, Mars because of dunes, lava, and the wind. These are also called "dune casts" and record the presence of dunes that were surrounded by lava, as shred by NASA. As the shape oddly resembled the Star Trek Enterprise's logo, NASA teased a nerd feud writing 'Boldly go' echoing the franchise famous quote - 'To boldly go where no man has gone before'

This tweet triggered William Shatner to take a dig at Star Wars tweeting that Star Trek beat them.

Star Wars immediately brought out its cockiest guns tweeting that 'they were 'far far away' from Mars and posting a picture of Han Solo telling 'Great, kid! Don't get cocky.'

Piling on the sass, Mark Hamill tweeted that the shape looked more like a boomerang.

To which Shatner replied that Hamill should not be a jelly.

Fighting to have the last word, Hamill piled on the jelly insult asking Shatner to "Live Long and Unfollow me"

Fans around the world have enjoyed the Twitter feud:

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek debuted on TV in 1966, a decade before George Lucas brought the Star Wars galaxy to the big screen in 1977.
