From his crazy 'Harambe' tribute to his 'Occupy Mars' meme, Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk has never failed to disappoint.

In a bizarre twist, Musk left his 27.6 million Twitter followers confused on Friday, when he changed his twitter handle name from Elon Musk' to '-1' and then then the even more bizarre 'e ^ (eye emoji)(pie emoji)'

Starhopper failed space hop

While many Twitter users went into a tizzy trying to decipher what the change meant, some have speculated that the '-1 ' name change could be because of a SpaceX satellite test rocket being aborted on July 24.

As per international reports, Starhopper, a prototype for SpaceX's Starship program, failed to take off from the company's Boca Chica test site in South Texas after igniting for three seconds. Instead of hopping up about 65 feet (20 meters) as planned, the rocket ignited and smoke then shut down.

-1 to 'e^iπ'

But a day later, as announced by Elon Musk or '-1', Starhopper succeeded in its short-hop free flight.

This probably prompted his Twitter name change from -1 to 'e^iπ' which is known as Euler's formula, as speculated by many Twitterati, while most have been left scratching their heads.

What is Euler's Formula?

Named after the Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler, fundamentally, the Euler's identity asserts that e^i π  is equal to -1. This shows the profound connection between the most fundamental numbers in mathematics as three of the basic arithmetic operations occur exactly once each: addition, multiplication, and exponentiation and links five fundamental mathematical constants, according to mathematicians.
