Microblogging social network Twitter has is rolling out a new prototype app ‘twttr’ for select users. As a result, select users have started testing this new app. Twitter has announced the availability of twttr via its official handle. Twitter’s ‘twttr’ app initiative is being promoted with the hashtag #LetsHaveAConvo.

Over time, Twitter is expected to make use of twttr to test out certain changes made to the main app. For example, Twitter explored some ideas around status update fields as well as pinned tweets in order to encourage conversations.

What is twttr?

As we mentioned, twttr is an early prototype app for select users. These users will be allowed to use many unreleased features before its existing public network. twttr will be an experimental space for Twitter to collect feedback from testers and develop features accordingly.

We are seeking some more clarity with regards to twttr’s eligibility criteria. TechCrunch reports that no one is under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Therefore, those users can discuss the features publicly.

How to sign up for twttr?

twttr has been made available for the first batch of testers. However, interested users can fill out Twitter’s prototype program application form. There are many fields. First up, Twitter wants to know your username.

Users have to select what kind of device do they primarily use to access Twitter. They can choose from the list of options like iPhone, iPad, Android tablet/smartphone, Website (desktop/mobile) among others. Finally, interested users have to choose what primary languages fo they speak and write, in addition to their country of residence.

Once you have submitted the application, you should receive an email on your Twitter-registered email address within 48 hours.

How to download and install the prototype app?

All users need to do is Install the TestFlight app on their iPhone. Once you receive an email invite from TestFlight with additional instructions, follow the steps so that twttr app will be installed on your iPhone. You can login with your primary Twitter @username.
