OnePlus is all set to unveil its inaugural foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, at the 'Open for Everything' event scheduled for October 19. Although the company has been discreet about many details concerning the device, a glimpse of its appearance has been provided.

The company has also announced that the OnePlus Open will come pre-loaded with a selection of applications. OnePlus emphasises the importance of maintaining a balance between delivering a unique and smooth user experience while ensuring the stability and security of their products. To achieve this, OnePlus has reportedly collaborated with mainstream app developers to ensure compatibility with the new folding design, aiming to offer users a hassle-free experience, with a mention of Facebook as one of the most widely used apps.

Expected pricing

The OnePlus Open might be priced at Rs 1,39,999 in India and could become available on October 27. If this information holds true, the OnePlus foldable will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, priced starting at Rs 1,54,999 for the base configuration, and the more affordable Tecno Phantom V Fold, which costs Rs 88,888. As of now, these are the only two book-style foldables available on the Indian market.

Additional details regarding the OnePlus Open have surfaced from reliable sources. Digital Chat Station, a Chinese source, shared expected display and camera specifications on Weibo. The device is anticipated to feature an internal 7.8-inch AMOLED panel with 2K resolution, a peak brightness of 2,800 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover display is expected to measure 6.3 inches.

On the rear, the OnePlus Open is rumoured to house a triple-camera setup, including a 48MP primary sensor, a 64MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless zoom capabilities, and a 48MP ultrawide lens.

Additionally, it's suggested that the OnePlus Open will be equipped with a 100W charger featuring 67W fast charging, but it won't support wireless charging. The device may run on OxygenOS 13.

OnePlus initially hinted at its venture into the foldable smartphone market during the OnePlus 11 launch event on February 7 this year. There were also reports of actor Anushka Sharma being spotted at the OnePlus Open in September, generating buzz among paparazzi.

OnePlus has collaborated with OPPO in developing the OnePlus Open, which will also debut as the OPPO Find N3 in select regions.
