Jon and Dany's long and terrifying road to get to this selfie

It took six seasons for them to finally really hear of one another and then a couple of episodes to meet on screen, but finally, Westeros has witnessed ice and fire come together. Daenerys Targaryen has perhaps had the longest journey of all the main characters in the series, crisscrossing the gigantic eastern continent of Essos a number of times before settling in Mereen and then finally undertaking the long voyage to Dragonstone, the Targaryen stronghold and her birthplace.

In comparison, Jon Snow started off in the north, then went further north and then still further. Then he came back south (comparatively) and then ventured to a place where the sun still shines brightly — the most south he's been since (spoiler alert?) ...

Dany and Jon's meeting has brought them together from completely different ends of the Game of Thrones world. But meet they did, and now the continent of Westeros waits to learn what the repercussions will be. They've got enemies aplenty and still may not trust each other completely. But just for a second... only a second, let's stop to see what it would be like if there was no war and the pair of them were just hanging around Dragonstone, the Mother of Dragons and the King in the North.

Sure, Jon Snow looks a little too bookish with his glasses to be fighting off Whitewalkers and Dany seems like she misses the warmth of Essos, but it looks like there's plenty of cheer, and that's worth something. How long will it be before they enjoy a carefree moment like that on the show? You can bet that Cersei and the Night's King will have short and succinct answers to that question.

The fourth episode of the seventh season of Game of Thrones, 'Spoils of War', released on Monday morning (IST), marking the halfway point of the season. There are three more unnamed episodes to come, plus, the seventh and final season of Game of Thrones. And then of course, if it's still a part of the plan, the author of The Song of Ice and Fire (the fantasy fiction book series on which the show is based), George R R Martin, may want to release the final two books in the series which at this point, differs markedly from the show. 

All things considered, there may still be a boatload of surprises remaining!
