When Ravichandran Ashwin retired from international cricket in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, many felt it came too soon. After all, Ashwin was still performing at a high level in home conditions and was beginning to contribute more with the bat too whenever he got the chance to do so. But Ashwin has now revealed that he wanted to retire much before December - he had planned to call it quits after his 100th Test, which came against England at Dharamshala in January 2024.
