In a surprising medical case in Chhatarpur district, a team of doctors successfully removed a 16-inch bottle gourd from the rectum of a 60-year-old farmer after a two-hour operation. The complex surgery took place on July 21 at the district hospital.

The farmer, who was brought from Khajuraho in critical condition, was suffering from severe abdominal pain. After an initial examination and an x-ray, it was discovered that a foreign object, later identified as a bottle gourd, had entered his body through the rectum, leading to internal injuries.

The surgical team, led by Dr. Nandkishore Jatav, with Dr. Manoj Chaudhary, Dr. Ashish Shukla, and Dr. Sanjay Maurya, performed the operation to extract the gourd. The surgery revealed that the gourd had caused a rupture in the patient’s internal organs. Fortunately, the patient is now reported to be out of danger.

The circumstances leading to the insertion of the gourd remain unclear. Speculations include a possible testicular disorder, mental health issues, or an accident. The patient has not provided information regarding how the gourd came to be lodged in his body. The matter is still under investigation to determine the exact cause.

The operation was carried out after the patient initially sought treatment at the Mission Hospital, where he was refused care. The subsequent admission to the district hospital led to the successful removal of the gourd and the resolution of the patient’s critical condition.
