Heroic Police Sub-Inspector Saves Intoxicated Man from Deep Drain in Greater Noida

Noida: In a remarkable display of bravery and dedication, a police sub-inspector in Greater Noida rescued an intoxicated man from a deep drain on Monday, officials reported.

The courageous officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Sohanveer Singh, is attached to the Phase 2 police station and is in charge of the local Panchsheel outpost. According to a police spokesperson, “Today, the police received information that a man in an intoxicated state had fallen into a deep and dirty drain near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road in an attempt to commit suicide. Responding swiftly to the call, Sub-Inspector Sohanveer Singh, along with Sub-Inspector (trainee) Navneet Kumar and Head Constable Pradeep Kumar, rushed to the scene.”

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the man being swept away by the fast-flowing, dirty waters of the drain. Demonstrating remarkable bravery, Sub-Inspector Singh jumped into the drain and rescued the man.

The video was shared by PTI with a caption that reads, "VIDEO | An intoxicated man jumped into a drain in Greater Noida on Monday in an apparent suicide bid.  Sub-Inspector Sohanveer Singh of the local Phase 2 police station also jumped into the drain and rescued the man.

The man was later hospitalised and is stable now, says Noida Police."

The police spokesperson praised Singh's heroic act, stating, “Displaying remarkable bravery, Singh jumped into the drain and rescued the man.”

The rescued individual was promptly taken to the hospital, where he is now reported to be in stable condition. The quick response and fearless action of Sub-Inspector Sohanveer Singh and his team have been widely commended, highlighting their dedication to duty and commitment to protecting the community.
