Internet Slams Justin Trudeau After He Celebrates 6th Anniversary of Weed Legalization in Canada
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has garnered backlash for commemorating the sixth anniversary of cannabis legalization in Canada.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has grabbed headlines yet again. This time for celebrating the legalization of weed in his country.
Amid escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Canada, Trudeau is fast losing favor among Canadian citizens and is being criticized for his recent social media post commemorating the sixth anniversary of cannabis legalization in Canada.
As the world awaited a statement from Trudeau regarding his recent accusations against Indian diplomats, his tweet celebrating six years of weed legalization was labeled as tone-deaf and garnered significant backlash.
In his post, Trudeau wrote: "Six years ago today, we changed an outdated law, took profits away from criminals, and made our communities safer. We legalized cannabis across Canada."
Netizens React
"A whole generation of people needs to be millionaires to buy homes. But free weed. Good job," one user wrote.
Another user opined, "So even Trudeau admits that he has no achievements in the last 6 years. Reason he's bragging about legalizing cannabis as an achievement that happened six years back."
"You're such a goof. Your party is in shambles, and you come out and talk about weed," a third user commented.
"Next, we legalize fentanyl. We are in talks with Mexican cartels to supply us with fentanyl so we can make the future of Canada bright," another person humorously remarked.
"You’re really trying to brag about something you did SIX YEARS AGO? Clearly, you've hit rock bottom," read one comment.
In a major embarrassment for both himself and the Canadian government, Justin Trudeau recently admitted that he had only intelligence and "no hard evidentiary proof" to support the allegations he made against the Indian government regarding the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a wanted terrorist in India. Trudeau's claim that the Indian ambassador was a "person of interest" in Nijjar's killing has escalated tensions, leading to an unprecedented diplomatic standoff between India and Canada.
