'New Flavour': Zomato Told Customer After Delivering Mouldy Food From Burger King
Customer finds mold on Burger King order via Zomato, raising food safety concerns; both companies promise investigations and resolution.
Food safety continues to be a pressing issue in India, with multiple reports surfacing about contaminated or substandard food. Whether it’s dining at a restaurant, traveling by train, or ordering food online, customers across the country are increasingly highlighting concerns. One such incident recently grabbed widespread attention when a customer discovered mold on his Burger King order delivered through Zomato.
Yaman Dev Sharma, a dissatisfied customer, took to social media to share his unpleasant experience. He had ordered a Veg Whopper and fries from Burger King via Zomato. While the fries seemed fine, his shock came when he opened the burger.
Check out the Viral X Post:
"Ordered from Burger King via Zomato. After finishing the fries, I opened the burger (Veg Whopper), and today I learned they've introduced a new flavour-where mold comes free with the burger bun," wrote Yaman Dev Sharma in the caption of a video he shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The video and accompanying photo clearly showed mold on one side of the half-eaten burger, sparking outrage and concern about food safety among netizens. The post quickly gained attention, prompting responses from both Zomato and Burger King.
Zomato’s Response to the Post:
Zomato, in its response, expressed regret: "This is very shocking. We are sorry you had to experience this. We will investigate the matter. Meanwhile, a member of our team will definitely reach out to you. Please DM us your registered contact number."
Burger King also Replied to the X Post:
Burger King also responded swiftly, assuring the customer that they would look into the incident. "Hi Yaman, we never intend to provide such an experience. Can you please DM us your Contact Number, Store Location, Order ID and Email ID so that we can get in touch with you. Rest assured we will investigate this thoroughly," the fast-food chain replied.
Well this is not the first time Burger King has messed up the orders; earlier also a food vlogger claimed that she found an insect in her Burger and the video of that incident went viral.
This incident has once again highlighted the importance of stringent food safety measures in the country, especially as more people opt for online food deliveries. Food safety regulators and platforms like Zomato and Burger King are now under increased scrutiny to ensure the quality of their offerings and maintain customer trust.
