Viral Video: As Navratri celebrations begin in India, streets are bright with lights and beautiful idols of Goddess Durga are set up in pandals everywhere. 

This year, New York City celebrated the Durga Puja festival for the first time at the famous Times Square. Several videos capturing this wholesome Navratri celebration have gone viral on social media, capturing the vibrant atmosphere as both Indians and Americans participated in the navratri celebrations. 

The celebration, organized by the Bengali Club USA on October 5-6, featured cultural performances that highlighted the rich traditions of the Bengali community.

Viral video shared online shows maa durga pandal filled with people dressed in traditional attire, enjoying the festivities. Many participants expressed their joy at experiencing their culture in such a prominent location.

Social media reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with comments praising the significance of the celebration. One user wrote, “Whenever we Bengalis are, we shall uphold our culture and traditions,” while another commented, “Kudos to all the Bengalis in New York who have made this possible.”

One New Yorker remarked, “It is a great event as people who are not Bengali get to witness the culture.”
