Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced a series of executive orders aimed at reshaping key policies on immigration, education, gender identity, and global alliances. He argues that these changes are necessary to restore fairness, protect American interests, and eliminate what he calls ‘woke’ policies introduced in previous administrations. His decisions include ending birthright citizenship, withdrawing from the World Health Organization (WHO), limiting gender identity recognition, banning diversity programs in federal offices, and dismantling the US Department of Education.

No More Birthright Citizenship

One of Trump’s most controversial moves is his order to end birthright citizenship, which is guaranteed under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. The order states that children born to undocumented immigrants in the US will no longer be granted automatic citizenship.

“The federal government will not recognize automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens born in the United States,” Trump declared, emphasizing his administration’s tough stance on immigration. Along with this, plans are underway to implement stricter vetting processes for undocumented migrants.

Now America Has Only Two Genders

In another drastic move, Trump has ordered that only two genders—male and female—will be officially recognized in the US. The directive mandates that all government-issued documents, including passports and visas, must classify individuals based on their biological sex.

Additionally, the Biden-era policies promoting racial justice and protections for LGBTQ+ communities have been revoked. This marks a significant rollback of policies aimed at ensuring equality and inclusion.

End of DEI Programs

Fulfilling his campaign promise, Trump has signed an executive order banning diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in federal offices. The order, titled “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity,” cancels decades-old policies dating back to President Lyndon Johnson’s administration that protected federal employees from discrimination.

Trump justified this decision by calling DEI programs “dangerous, demeaning, and immoral.” He argues that government jobs should be awarded purely on merit, without affirmative action or diversity-based hiring policies.

Dismantle US Education Department

Trump has also dismantled the US Department of Education, a move long demanded by conservative groups. He argues that education policies should be managed at the state and local levels rather than through federal oversight.

For years, right-wing activists have pushed for the department’s abolition, criticizing it for promoting “woke” ideologies, including diversity and inclusion programs and protections for transgender students. However, the department plays a crucial role in enforcing anti-discrimination laws and distributing federal aid to schools serving low-income students and those with disabilities. With federal funding comprising about 14% of public school budgets, this decision is expected to have far-reaching consequences.
