Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has revoked security clearances and access to classified government facilities and information, for several important US leaders including former US President Joe Biden . Check list of five key leaders, who have been stripped off these rights.
A memo has been issued by the US President, axing security clearances for his political rivals and their allies, including former US President Joe Biden and former presidential candidate Kamala Harris .
The memo sent to the heads of executive departments and agencies, read, “I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information. I hereby direct every executive department and agency head to take all additional action as necessary and consistent with existing law to revoke any active security clearances held by the aforementioned individuals and to immediately rescind their access to classified information. I also direct all executive department and agency heads to revoke unescorted access to secure United States Government facilities from these individuals.”
In his official memo, President Trump has listed names of 15 leaders, all of them his opponents and officials from Biden's tenure as the US President. While the list includes former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger and New York Attorney General Letitia James who had prosecuted Trump for fraud, the five key names are -
Usually, former national security officials and US Presidents retain their security clearances as a mark of courtesy and it also helps them in getting employed with private contractors. However, on Trump's order, the US Intel Chief Tulsi Gabbard has revoked their access.
