Aerials show raging NSW fires, attempts to control

Video showing wildfires raging in the eastern Australian state of Victoria has been released. The footage shows the fire burning through a vast expanse of forest near the town of Buchan on Monday.

It also showed a firefighting plane releasing flame retardant in an area near Wingan river a day earlier. On Tuesday, the military in Victoria helped thousands of people who fled to the shore as the Wingan wildfire reached the coastal town of Mallacoota, and threatened their homes.

Food, water, fuel and medical expertise were delivered and about 500 people were evacuated from the town by a naval ship. Cooler weather since Tuesday has aided firefighting and allowed people to replenish supplies.
