At least eight dead after building collapse in Lagos

A three-storey building under construction collapsed in Lagos on Sunday evening, leaving eight people dead, according to rescue officials.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency's Lagos office, told The Associated Press on Sunday night that the rescue operation was still ongoing.

Sunday's incident comes amid accusations of industry corruption, with building developers allegedly paying off regulatory agencies meant to monitor construction work in line with strict building rules.
