Senegal began its COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Tuesday after receiving 200,000 doses of China's Sinopharm vaccine.
Footage broadcast live on national television showed the country's health minister, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, becoming the first person to receive the jab, followed by other members of government.
Senegal plans to begin vaccinating health workers, people over 60 and those with underlying health conditions.
The West African nation is also expecting nearly 1.3 million vaccine doses through the COVAX initiative.
