Bangladesh's Benapole Express train set on fire, many burnt alive

Bangladesh: A tragic incident unfolded in Bangladesh as a passenger train erupted in flames, claiming the lives of five individuals on Friday. Reports from local media indicated the presence of Indian citizens among the train's passengers. The train was allegedly set on fire by miscreants and the a probe has been initiated. The authorities suspect foul play in what they believe could be an act of arson, hinting at a deliberate attempt to sabotage ahead of the elections in the country which are scheduled to take place on January 7. However, specific details surrounding the suspected sabotage were not disclosed yet.

The targeted train, identified as the Benapole Express, fell victim to the blaze in Sayedabad on Friday night at around 9:05 PM. The train was en route from Jessore, a western city, to Dhaka. Four bogies of the train have reportedly been burnt. Seven firefighting units brought the blaze under control at 10:20 PM. Among the victims, there was a young man who died while trying to evacuate the passengers from the burning train.
