The Australian state of New South Wales has recorded 13 new deaths and a further 1,083 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours.

Talking to reporters in Sydney on Sunday, Premier of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian said, "New South Wales has hit 81.9% of first doses. I couldn't be happier with that rate. We would love to get that as close to 90% as possible but we know that once we hit 70% double dose an 80% double dose, life will be so much better than what we are all experiencing now."

Berejiklian also said that some restrictions will be eased from Monday including no time limit to outdoor exercise and weddings with a maximum of 11 people allowed.

Meanwhile, the state of Victoria recorded one death and 507 new cases of community acquired cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 282 are linked to known outbreaks or other cases.

Talking to reporters in Melbourne on Sunday, Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews said, "lockdowns have been about buying time to get to 70 and 80% vaccinated. We are fast approaching those milestones. At that point we have got to open the place up, because remaining closed for ever has its own cost in every sense of that word."

Andrews also outlined a roadmap to the end of the lockdown which is not scheduled to end until late October with greater freedom granted to Victorians once 80% of the state's population will be fully vaccinated. Just over 43% of the population is currently fully vaccinated.

There were 58,619 tests conducted on Saturday in Victoria and 43,441 vaccines administered.

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) recorded 17 locally acquired new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
