Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived India on her four-day tour on October 3 in the national capital. The objective of the visit is to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations. The main focus of her bilateral talks will be trade and connectivity. The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted that India’s relationship with Bangladesh is of utmost priority. The tweet also stated that both the nations share a multifaceted relationship with is more than just a strategic partnership.

Sheikh Hasina to attend Economic Summit

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh on her first day of the engagements will attend the Economic Summit as the chief guest that is being organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in New Delhi. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Sheikh Hasina will visit President Ram Nath Kovind and later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina will hold bilateral talks on October 5. The Bangladesh PM is visiting India for the first time after the general elections held in Bangladesh and India. The press statement released by MEA stated that “Apart from a number of agreements that are to be exchanged between the sides during the visit, the two Prime Ministers will also jointly inaugurate three bilateral projects via video links.

India and Bangladesh to sign MoUs

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali in his interview to a Bangladesh daily said that both the countries will discuss and review the Rohingya and Teesta river water issues apart from talks on other agreements related to various other sectors. He also said that so far there is confirmation on the approval of seven to eight MoUs that are to be signed during the meet. The MoUs will mostly be about connectivity, cultural and technical cooperation and trade and investment. He also said that the number of MoUs could come up to 10 in number. He further enlightened that the Bangladesh PM would seek financial investment from important Indian investors for the country’s growth and development.
