Weda: At least 172 passengers and crew members aboard a Super Air Jet flight on Monday narrowly escaped a mishap in Indonesia, after Super Air Jet flight number A 320 overran the runway while landing at the Weda Bay Airport. Sources claimed that the aircraft, while landing at the airport, went out of control and went beyond the runway on the muddy area. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, claimed the sources.

According to the reports, the incident took place on Monday evening amid the heavy rainfall in the city. It is being suspected that the aircraft couldn't stop in time on the runway due to heavy rain and unfavorable weather conditions, which resulted in a slippery runway.

The passengers were safely evacuated from the flight and all other safety norms were implemented by the airport authority.

A probe has been initiated by the airport authority to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, during which the aircraft overshot the runway, while attempting to make a landing at the airport.

Meanwhile, various images of the occurrence circulated on social media, showing passengers disembarking the plane.

An official confirmation from the airline is awaited over the incident.
