New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday strongly condemned Pakistan ’s recent remarks regarding Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the country's continued support for cross-border terrorism remains the primary obstacle to peace and security in the region.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to media queries, stating that Pakistan’s actions have long been a destabilizing force in the region. He further stressed that instead of making baseless claims, Pakistan should vacate the Indian territory it occupies illegally and forcibly.

“We note that Pakistan has once again made some comments about the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The world knows that the real issue is Pakistan’s active promotion and sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. In fact, this is the biggest roadblock to peace and security in the region,” Jaiswal said.

“Instead of spreading lies, Pakistan should vacate Indian territory under its illegal and forcible occupation,” he added.

What Did the Global Terror Epicentre Pakistan Say This Time?

The MEA’s remarks came in response to comments made by the Pakistan Foreign Office following an interview with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the podcast of Lex Fridman.

During the interview, PM Modi said that every attempt to foster peace with Pakistan had been met with hostility and betrayal, urging that the leadership in Islamabad should display wisdom to improve bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister also described Pakistan as a focal point of global instability, stating that the country posed a significant threat to both India and the international community.

In its response, the Pakistan Foreign Office labeled PM Modi’s comments as “misleading and one-sided.”

The Foreign Office also accused India of neglecting the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which has remained unresolved for over seven decades, despite India's commitments to the United Nations, Pakistan, and the Kashmiri people.

The statement further alleged that India was involved in destabilizing activities on Pakistani soil, claiming that India was engaged in “state-sanctioned oppression” in Jammu and Kashmir and had orchestrated “targeted assassinations, subversion, and terrorism in foreign territories.”
