A cargo plane loaded with medical equipment from China landed in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, carrying millions of items aimed at helping Ethiopia and the rest of Africa fight the coronavirus crisis.

The supplies, including face masks, test kits and protective clothing for health workers, came from the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation.

They will be distributed to countries throughout Africa that are particularly vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms.

For some it can cause more severe illness, especially in older adults and people with existing health problems.
