A World Health Organization mission investigating the origins of the coronavirus pandemic met with officials at the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday. The team spent around three and a half hours inside the Wuhan CDC, a site of key interest in the early history of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They had also visited the Hubei Provincial Center for Disease Control earlier in the day.The WHO investigators arrived in Wuhan, the provincial capital, last month to look for clues and have visited hospitals and a seafood market where early cases were detected.

In a social media post on Thursday last week the WHO said its team plans to visit the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and laboratories at facilities like the Wuhan Center for Disease Control. However, the mission has become politically charged, as China seeks to avoid blame for alleged missteps in its early response to the outbreak.
