Chinese doctor accuses Beijing of virus cover-up

In an interview with Fox News, Dr. Li-Meng Yan alleges officials at the Hong Kong School of Public Health, a reference laboratory for the World Health Organization, censored her when she voiced an alarm about human-to-human transmission in December last year.

A Chinese virologist has accused Beijing of engaging in an extensive coronavirus cover-up, saying she did some of the earliest research into COVID-19 last year and claims that research was withheld. In an interview with Fox News, Dr. Li-Meng Yan alleges officials at the Hong Kong School of Public Health, a reference laboratory for the World Health Organization, censored her when she voiced an alarm about human-to-human transmission in December last year.

"The government doesn't allow people to release such information. Hospital doctors are scared, but they cannot talk," she told Fox News.In April, Yan fled Hong Kong to the US, she says, to raise awareness about the pandemic. She told Fox News she fears for her life.The virus has killed more than 130,000 people in the U.S. and more than a half-million worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University, though the true numbers are believed to be higher
