4 Killed, 23 Injured After Trains Collide Head-On in Czech Republic

Prague: At least four people were killed while 23 others sustained injuries after a passenger train collided with a freight train in the Czech Republic.

On early Thursday, Interior Minister Vít Rakušan said that the accident took place late Wednesday night, June 5, in the city of Pardubice, some 100 kilometres (62 miles) east of Prague.

The passenger train belonged to the private RegioJet company, the minister added.

Furthermore, following this accident, Transport Minister Martin Kupkas said that a major track between Prague and the eastern part of the country has been closed till the time authorities investigate the matter.

Offering condolences to the relatives of those killed in the accident, Prime Minister Petr Fiala called the crash a “big tragedy."
