Washington: US Congressman Earl LeRoy ‘Buddy’ Carter has nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering a ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel. The nomination comes after Trump's administration successfully negotiated a ceasefire agreement between the two nations, bringing an end to weeks of escalating tensions and violence in the region.

The ceasefire deal, which was announced earlier this week, has been hailed as a major diplomatic breakthrough. Trump's administration played a crucial role in facilitating talks between Iran and Israel, bringing the two nations to the negotiating table and securing a mutually acceptable agreement. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) nominated Trump while praising his leadership and diplomatic skills in achieving the breakthrough.

According to Carter, Trump's efforts to broker peace between Iran and Israel demonstrated his commitment to reducing conflict and promoting stability in the region. "President Trump's leadership and diplomatic skills have been instrumental in bringing about this ceasefire agreement," Carter said and added, "His willingness to engage with both sides and find common ground has been a key factor in achieving this breakthrough."

The ceasefire deal has been hailed as a major diplomatic success, and Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is seen as a recognition of his efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize has been met with widespread praise. Many believe that his efforts to broker peace between Iran and Israel are an example of his ability to bring people together and find solutions to complex problems.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of peace and conflict resolution. Meanwhile, Trump's nomination is a recognition of his efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability in the region.

Trump's Efforts To Halt Iran's Nuclear Ambitions

Carter also outlined Trump's bold and decisive actions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions. "President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring nuclear weapons," he added.

Notably, Trump has not been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the first time. In 2020, a group of Australian parliamentarians nominated him for the award, citing his caution in putting the United States in wars. Trump was also nominated in 2018 by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a Norwegian Parliament member, for his global conflict resolution resume.

In 2021, Laura Huhtasaari, a member of the right-wing Swedish Finns Party, nominated him for the award, recognising his endeavours to end the era of endless wars and construct peace through dialogue and negotiations.

Earlier, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had sent a letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Norway, recommending US President Donald Trump for the award due to his "decisive diplomatic intervention" during the recent India-Pakistan conflict. However, the move triggered controversy, especially after the US bombed Iran's nuclear sites, with many questioning Trump's credentials as a peacemaker.
