A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, on Friday, March 28, 2025, sending shockwaves across the region. The tremors were so intense that they were felt as far as Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand, causing panic and widespread evacuations. 

Shattering Visuals Captures the Devastation:  

Social media was flooded with videos showcasing the terrifying impact of the earthquake. One particularly shocking clip shows an under-construction building in Bangkok's Chatuchak Market collapsing, sending up a thick cloud of dust and debris.  

Another dramatic video captured the iconic Ava Bridge in Myanmar crashing into the Irrawaddy River, severing a crucial connection between the Ava and Sagaing regions.

Another video from Mandalay, Myanmar, shows collapsed buildings after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake.

This is the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Myanmar. 

Several high-rise buildings and shopping malls in Bangkok shook violently, forcing people to rush outdoors in fear.  

In one viral video, water from an infinity pool atop a skyscraper splashed over its edge, illustrating the intensity of the tremors. Another showed an entire under-construction high-rise crumbling to the ground, leaving behind a massive cloud of smoke. 

Earthquake Impact: 

In Myanmar, where the earthquake's epicentre was located, damage assessments are still ongoing. Several structures collapsed, including residential and commercial buildings, raising concerns about the safety of residents. However, no immediate casualties have been reported in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. 

The tremors were also felt in Bangladesh , including its capital, Dhaka, but no major damage has been reported there so far.
