Streets, rivers and parks in Egypt appeared deserted on Sunday during what would have been one of the country's biggest festivities of Eid, as coronavirus measures keep celebrations in the home.
The three-day Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for the world's 1.8 billion Muslims.
People usually celebrate by travelling, visiting family and gathering for lavish meals - all of which will be largely prohibited as authorities try to prevent new virus outbreaks.
In Egypt, authorities have extended the nighttime curfew, which will now begin at 5 p.m. instead of 9 p.m., and halted public transportation until May 29.

Eid El-Fitr is associated with gatherings in different gardens and public places for Egyptians, but this year there is a major change in everything.
For the first time, Egyptians will spend the Eid holiday in homes as all shops, gardens, malls and beaches are completely closed.

Egyptians are banned from using gardens, Nile boats and beaches as restrictions on gathering for the festive holiday.
The Egyptian government implemented measures to limit the spread of the virus.
