A group of Armenian migrants and descendants gathered outside the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Santiago to ask for peace and stop the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh territory. The demonstration was peaceful with almost 20 people with flags and banners. Rosa Artunian, a woman born in Armenia who has lived in Chile for the last 24 years said she found the war unjust.

"We are supporting my country, my people, soldiers, for the unfair war, it's unfair, many civilians are suffering and they have nothing to do. We want peace," said Artunian. The group of Armenians left the place peacefully. The region of Nagorno-Karabakh lies inside Azerbaijan but has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since the end of a separatist war in 1994.

The fighting erupted Sept. 27 and has killed dozens, with both sides accusing each other of expanding the hostilities beyond Nagorno-Karabakh, targeting civilians and damaging nonmilitary infrastructure. Armenian officials allege Turkey is involved in the conflict on the side of Azerbaijan and is sending fighters from Syria to the region.
