Dozens of Mafia suspects arrested in Italy

Police in the southern Italian city of Bari launched a massive anti-mafia operation at dawn on Monday, arresting 99 people with suspected ties to the Strisciuglio clan.

Hundreds of police officers, cars, helicopters and K-9 teams were involved in the operation, the result of an investigation that began in 2015.

A police statement said the suspects were held on charges of having ties to the mafia, illegal possession of arms, drug trafficking, attempted homicide, and extortion.
